The Turkish company Superlit stopped production at its tube and pipe factory in Romania, located in Buzău, and is laying off almost three quarters of its employees, writes profit.ro.
The company says it took the decision due to a dramatic drop in domestic sales, due to transportation costs and very difficult collection of receivables from customers, as well as pandemic restrictions and global effects.
The production in Romania will be moved to Turkey, the machines in Buzău will be sold and only the product/goods sales activity will be kept in Romania, profit.ro reports.
The reorganisation of the activity also involves the dismissal of some employees, an operation already planned to be carried out in stages, between April and August: 30 employees in stage 1, 15 employees in stage 2 and 22 employees in stage 3.
In Buzau, according to data reported for last year, work 91 employees.
Superlit is part of the Karamanci Holding group, a worldwide producer and distributor of tubes and pipes from Europe to Africa and from America to Asia and Australia.
