New law aimed at reducing bureaucracy passed by Parliament: public institutions will no longer ask for copies of notices or documents issued by the state

Public institutions are forbidden to ask individuals and companies for copies of notices or other documents that have been issued by other state institutions, according to a draft law, previously passed by the Senate, and now adopted by Parliament, through the final vote of the Chamber of Deputies, reports Profit.ro. The new provisions are expected to enter into force early next year.

The form adopted by the Senate does not provide for sanctions, and many lawmakers have pointed out that the new law will not be enforceable with the current logistical capacity of the administration.

Public institutions and specialized bodies of the central public administration will request copies or extracts of these documents in electronic format from the entities that have issued them on the basis of the express consent of the beneficiary of the public service.

The form adopted by the Senate does not provide for sanctions and many parliamentarians have pointed out that the new law will not be enforceable, given that the administrative apparatus in many parts of the country does not have the logistical capacity, both staff and technical, to implement these provisions, in particular to transmit these documents by e-mail, writes Profit.ro.

The provisions of this law would come into force from January  1st 2022.
