Romanian Post partners with online marketplace platform OLX

The Romanian National Post Company (CNPR) has signed a contract with the online marketplace OLX Romania, and buyers will be able to opt for the delivery of the products through the national postal operator, the company’s representatives announced. Customers would benefit from a preferential rate of up to 44% lower than standard costs, the two new partners said.

According to a company press release quoted by Agerpres, the parcels will reach the buyers through the Inter Point service of the Romanian Post, intended for customers who sell or buy goods on the online marketplace platforms. “Through the partnership concluded with OLX Romania, we come to the support of the users of this platform, with a tariff up to 44% lower compared to the list tariffs. We are delighted that OLX has identified a reliable partner in the Romanian Post and contacted us, following an analysis which showed that 26% of shipments were delivered through our company. We are convinced that it will be a successful partnership and we estimate a traffic of over 600,000 parcels annually “, said Horia Grigorescu, general manager of the Romanian Post.

With this partnership, the seller has to option of delivery via the Romanian Post, and based on buyer needs, select from one of the  800 computerized postal subunits for the point of delivery.

“The seller performs the AWB directly from the OLX platform and presents it, together with the package, at any post office. The shipments will arrive at the destination in a maximum of two days from dropoff, in case of deliveries made in the same county, and in a maximum of three days, for delivery in other counties. The shipments can be monitored in the Track & Trace system throughout the technological flow, from dropoff to delivery. The maximum permissible weight of the shipment is 30 kg. The Romanian Post announces recipients by SMS when parcels reach the destination. The buyer is also offered the option of opening the package upon delivery, in order to verify the contents. All expenses are borne by the buyer, who makes the payment at the destination by money order. The items will be kept in the postal subunits, at the disposal of the recipients, for ten days. If the parcels are not picked up or are refused, they are returned to the senders, at the expense of the OLX “, the postal operator states.

OLX is the largest online marketplace site in Romania, with over 10 million unique visitors per month and over 1.4 million active ads. At the same time, the platform is the most used online shopping application in Romania, ranking first in the Shopping category in Google Play and the App Store.

Romanian Post is the largest national operator in the field of postal services and is owned by the Romanian state, represented by the Ministry of Research, Innovation, and Digitalization (93.52%) and the Fondul Proprietatea fund(6.48%). The company has a network of over 5,600 postal subunits nationwide, distributing more than 11 million mailings every week. Also, more than 19 million inhabitants benefit from the services of the Romanian Post and over 7.5 million addresses are covered by the posts’ own postal network.
