Hyundai’s importer in Romania has announced that the Ioniq 5 will be unveiled today, 10 September. Hyundai’s first dedicated electric Ioniq model has been developed based on the brand’s new dedicated platform for electric vehicles – the Electric Global Modular Platform.

The E-GMP offers 800V and 400V charging as standard, without the need for additional components or adapters. The Ioniq 5 is one of the world’s first electric vehicles equipped with 800 V infrastructure. This allows the battery to be charged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. What’s more, after a charge of just five minutes, the vehicle gains a range of 100 km.

The V2L function also allows any electric device to be powered or charged, and the model can be equipped with a sunroof that can prevent the battery from discharging while providing additional range.

Customers can choose between two battery options, 58 kWh or 72.6 kWh, as well as two configurations for the electric motor – rear axle or twin motor, with a top speed of 185 km/h.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 can tow a trailer of up to 1,600 kg and is available with a 72.6 kWh battery in the local market, with customers able to choose from four trim levels.

The Ioniq 5 is Hyundai’s first model equipped with Highway Driving Assist (HDA 2). Using the camera, front radar sensors and data from the navigation system, HDA 2 allows control of speed and distance to the vehicle in front, as well as centring the vehicle in the lane.

In addition, the Ioniq 5 features Intelligent Remote Park Assist (RSPA), Forward Collision Assist (FCA) with Junction Collision Avoidance (FCA-JX), Intelligent Speed Limit Warning (ISLW), Driver Alert Warning (DAW), Blind Spot Monitoring (BVM), 360° Monitoring (SVM), Park Collision Avoidance Warning (PCA).

The model’s list price is €39,199, but with the support of programmes such as Rabla Plus, it can go as low as €23,018.
