Dan Vilceanu validated in the National Political Bureau of the Liberal Party for the Ministry of Finance. Orban, the only vote against the proposal

Dan Vîlceanu was validated on Wednesday in the PNL National Political Bureau for the Ministry of Finance. The only vote against was Ludovic Orban’s, party sources said, quoted by news.ro. Dan Vîlceanu, 42, is an economist by profession, with a bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees from the West University of Timișoara. Since his second year at university, he has worked for Trefo SRL, an energy contracting company controlled by his family.

According to the sources quoted, the vote was 47 to 1, with the meeting attended by supporters of Florin Cîțu, who proposed Dan Vîlceanu for the post of finance minister.

Ludovic Orban voted against.

Vîlceanu’s nomination will now be sent to the President, who will sign the appointment decree.

Dan Vîlceanu will take up his post after being sworn in by President Iohannis.

Prime Minister Florin Cîțu announced on Saturday that he is backing Dan Vîlceanu for the post of Public Finance Minister.

Dan Vîlceanu was elected president of the PNL Gorj in July. At the time, Cîțu said, “Dan is my friend and colleague, since I entered Parliament in 2016.”

“Congratulations! Dan, thanks for all your support! You were on the winning team for a long time! We’re winning on September 25! We win big time,” Cîțu wrote on Facebook at the time.

The post of finance minister has been vacant since 8th of July after the dismissal of Alexandru Nazare, with the prime minister taking over as interim minister.
