BREAKING Romania’s economy grew by 13.6% in Q2

Romania’s economy grew by 13.6% in the second quarter of 2021, compared to the same quarter last year, data published Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) show. This is the highest annualized quarterly growth since data have been available, the previous one being in the last quarter of 2004.

By comparison, in the second quarter of 2020, Gross Domestic Product decreased, compared to the same quarter of 2019, by 10.5%, both on the gross and seasonally adjusted series.

In the first half of 2021, Gross Domestic Product increased, compared to the first half of 2020, by 6.5% on the gross series and by 6.2% on the seasonally adjusted series.

In the second quarter of 2021, compared to the previous quarter, GDP increased by 1.8%.

In the second quarter of 2021, compared to the previous quarter, Gross Domestic Product increased by 1.8%. Compared to the same quarter of 2020, GDP increased by 13.6%.
In the first half of 2021, compared to the first half of 2020, Gross Domestic Product increased by 6.2%.

Gross series

Compared to the same quarter of 2020, Gross Domestic Product in the second quarter of 2021 recorded a growth of 13.0%. In the first half of 2021, compared to the first half of 2020, Gross Domestic Product increased by 6.5%.

Revisions

Following the revision of the gross series by including the estimate of Gross Domestic Product for Q2 2021 in the quarterly series, the seasonally adjusted series has been recalculated, with the volume indices revised from the second provisional version of Gross Domestic Product for Q1 2021 published in News Release No 174 of 8 July 2021. Thus, the results for the first quarter of 2021, compared with the fourth quarter of 2020, have have been revised from 102.9% to 102.5%. Seasonally adjusted series are recalculated quarterly in line with European practice.
